Ranchrave 1.3

First time ever playing actually live! The usual rough transitions and what not, but man this was fun.

Big subs, lasers, Phill's projector. Yea. This was the end of the night, going for the... fun music. Mostly 120bpm with a jump to 145 at the end.

Notes to self: know the music a bit better. A handful of transitions started well, but I didn't complete them before the incoming song got "busy" and things get all muddy.

Easy Listening, Vol. 2

Finally found an hour to sit down and do this again after several months.

Mostly 140. Started off with the intention of dubstep minimix and ended up... somewhere experimental. I really need to get some actual monitors or something, the recorded output (esp. with filters and the volume balance between mixed tracks) is wildly different from what I'm hearing live.

In my signature style, I missed a few (ok, most) mix points. However! A couple of these transitions actually turned out pretty decent, like @ 16:30, 38:38, 42:20. And a handful more were timed well but not executed cleanly (need to take the old track out faster, use more filters/fx, something to "blend" it better, etc).

Minimix

In an attempt to actually practice DJing, messing around with some shorter mixes, not trying too hard. Soooo yea here's something.

This primarily centers around 145bpm tracks. It goes off the rails towards the end, I started getting.... "creative".

Easing Listening, Vol. 1

The first installment of "bstew presses buttons on a dj controller".

This "mix" has it all: missed beats, off-key mixes, cross fader misplacements, bad effects, weird volume artifacts. But slightly less egregious versions of those things than previous attempts? And I didn't totally stop playback at any point, so that's a win!

Shoutout to rekt.network, in particular, Vosto, EvoL, spy_audio, and dnsk for the inspiration.

Notes to self:

  • FX sound quite different on the recording than through my speakers live.
  • I accidentally turned on some "smart fader" button that does some really odd stuff to the volume?
